School Tours

The 2023 California Mid-Winter Fair & Fiesta will be offering School Tours and Special Citizen Tours absolutely free to all elementary schools in Imperial County on Wednesday March 8th for School Tours and March 9th for Special Citizen Tours.

As you may know from previous years, this is a complementary educational opportunity the Fair sponsors each year.  This program is an occasion for elementary school students to visit the Fair with teachers and chaperones in a self-supervised, self-guided manner.

Please remind teachers and chaperones of their responsibilities when participating in this program:
  • Ensure students are supervised at all times.
  • Be respectful of the fairgrounds property and that of its partners.
  • Be respectful of all animals on the fairgrounds; animals are to look at, not to touch.
  • Eat in designated food areas only, and no eating in the livestock barns.
  • Clean up all trash students create to help with the cleanliness of the fairgrounds.
  • Strollers should not be taken to the Livestock area.  If you chose to do so, please remember to wash everything (especially wheels) upon exit.
  • Confirm school has insurance covering all students/staff/chaperones while at the Fair. The Fair will not be held responsible for any accidents or mishaps to the students/staff/chaperones while on the fairgrounds.
  • The school will be responsible for the costs of damages caused by students/staff/chaperones while at the Fair.  The teacher/chaperone will report any incidents to the Fair Administration office or Fair Security immediately.
  • It is everyone’s responsibility to ensure groups act appropriately to allow the program to continue in future years.

To participate in this complimentary, educational program, each school is now required to complete this online form (links below) so we may plan for a safe and secure environment for all participants.  The completed request form must be signed by your Principal and returned to the Fair Office by January 30, 2022.

Approximately two weeks prior to the date we will email a link to the entry form which will then provide your “ticket” into the fair upon completion.
Due to staffing and security issues, we will NOT accept any late submissions nor will we allow any classes entry at the gate with their forms who have not turned them in prior to the deadline.

All schools who have returned the form prior to the deadline will be included on a gate list which will be used during the Tours to welcome schools.  At that time
each teacher will be required to provide their entry form.

The theme of this year’s Fair is “Feel the Groove”.  During their visit, have students look for special theme features as well as visiting the livestock area and special entertainment presentations just for students and the school art exhibits.
Please note that we have implemented new Biosecurity policies which no longer allow food or drinks in the livestock area.

We are excited to offer this opportunity to your school once again, and want to thank you in advance for helping us to keep it going for years to come.  If you have any questions or need additional information please contact the fair office at ivf@ivfairgrounds.com.
